The Chaiwala - Chai Pe Charcha - Tollygunge, Kolkata

6/1/2, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Rd Graham's Land, Jubeeli Park

Chai garam, Chai garam, E bolo Chai garam Whenever we heard the word "Chaiwala", this melody starts to ring on our ear. But days has changed. Now "Chaiwala" has not limited to the tea sellers, who used to carry a kettle and small glasses in wire rack. In these days, "The Chaiwala" is a well known Cafe of Tollyguange. "The Chaiwala" is located in the lane of Dr. Grahams Land, just beside the lane of indrapuri studio, only 5 minutes walking distance from the Mahanayak Uttamkumar Metro station. Very decent ambiance with eye catching Tea vendors' photography. The stuffs are friendly & super cool. Actually the owner and his friends opened this cafe and they themselves work there. Best place for hanging out with friends. Actually I've visited the place on December 2016. But after that I didn't get time to write the review. After few months I've got pregnant and my son was born. Then I've moved to Hyderabad and became very busy with the little one. After long time, when my husband asked me for any pending review, suddenly this one came to my mind, and I've decided to pen down about this cafe. Me and my blogger friend were invited by The Chaiwala. And we reached there around 4 pm. The owner, who is a very young, that time he was just college pass out welcomed us. The let us to roam around the cafe including a small boutique which was just in the next room. Then he told me the story behind the Cafe. Then he offered us the very obhious, 'Khullar wali masala chai & rusks'. It was regular chai, nothing special. Only one thing, they used to serve thick milk based tea, which is used to serve in Northan part of India. Then 'Oreo Frappe' was served, and that was also good. Then another mocktail was served, but unfortunately I don't remember the name. After the food came, and the 1st one was, gill pan pancake. We asked them to serve only 1 portion, as we had to taste so many dishes. So they served us 1 plate pancakes. I'm not a pancake lover, but belive this one changed my taste bud. Firstly I was very attrated with the shape, the pancakes were square in shape, and made on grill pan. So I thought of tasting. After having one, I had another one. The pancakes were really tasty and honey glazed. My blogger friend asked for parcel a plate of pancakes for her daughter and she forcefully paid for that. After that the Chicken wings came, and it was good. PErfectly juicy wings, tossed in honey based sauce, perfect for the taste buds. After the chicken wings, we were served Double decker grilled chicken burger. This was the best item I had in town. Soft tender juicy grilled chicken burger, I had after long time, honestly. Any how, better late than never, so I'm posting this review on the basis of the menu of 2016. It might has changed with the time, but I'm sure the taste and the service is still the same. So do visit at least once, if you are in Kolkata. The cossy cafe, eye catching ambiance and pocket friendly great food will not let you down.
