Ginger Milk Tea-Adrak Chai

Chai or tea is an unofficial national drink or beverage of Indian household. It is a must-drink in the morning, and it is refreshing drink after a meal or in the evening after a long day. Evidently, it has led to too many variations to it and one of the variations from urban cities is the ginger tea recipe or adrak wali chai. Like any other Indian family, our day does not start without a sip of freshly boiled milk tea. We have untold and never discussed patterns for our morning tea. I prepare the basic or no fancy tea during the week which is just made with organic tulsi adrak green tea leaves and no milk. not even sugar in it. But for the weekend it’s my duty to make spicy and sharp tea with ginger or cardamom or both in it. The idea of having something fancy on the weekend is due to the ample amount of time you have in the early morning. It means you can be patient till the milk, tea powder and spices are boiled together thoroughly and gives you a very refreshing kadak tea in the mornig.

What is Ginger Chai
Indian Ginger Chai is quite simply, an aromatic concoction of freshly brewed tea infused with grated ginger root. Laced with milk and optionally sweetened, it makes for your daily dose of comforting goodness that will help to keep you warm and energetic. It also works great to soothe sore throats and facilitate the healing of common colds.

Benefits of Ginger Tea
Gingerol, the main bioactive ingredient in ginger, is an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant which is why the root is used for its medicinal properties. Ginger is a root used as a spice. It is one of my favorite spices that has a slightly tangy taste when added to milk tea. The benefits can include reducing nausea, aiding digestion, relieving the common household cold and flu, and many more.

Ingredients for Ginger Milk Tea-Adrak Chai

Preperation steps for Ginger Milk Tea-Adrak Chai

Take the ginger pieces in a mortar-pestle and crush the pieces roughly. Now take 1 cup of water in a pan, and when the water starts boiling, add 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of dust tea to the boiling water.

Boil for 1 minute, then add the crushed ginger. After that, add 1/2 cup of milk to the pan and keep boiling everything for 2 minutes. Remember how much the tea will boil; the tea will taste better.

After 2–3 minutes of boiling, turn off the heat.

Add 1 teaspoon of leaf tea. (you can skip if you don't want the flavor of Darjeeling tea.) Cover the pan and leave it for one more minute. After 1 minute, add sugar as per your taste and strain the tea.

Your Adrak Wali Chai is ready. Enjoy.

Indian Masala Tea is also a very popular tea in North India. You can find my recipe for it here.
